Choose pixel pitch from the nearest viewer.

Pitch is a geometry decision. Start with where people stand, what they must read and how much pixel structure the experience can tolerate.

01

Nearest regular viewer sets the upper pitch.

02

Content type changes acceptable acuity.

03

Do not spend on pixels nobody can resolve.

01

Minimum and comfortable distances are different

A viewer may technically stop seeing individual emitters while still noticing surface structure in flat colour or high-contrast edges. Use a viewing band rather than one magic distance.

A boardroom showing small data rewards finer pitch than a concert screen carrying faces and motion.

02

Resolution follows physical area

Once pitch is chosen, the wall dimensions determine native pixels. Compare that native canvas with the sources you intend to show. Scaling a desktop onto an ultra-wide architectural ribbon needs a layout decision, not merely a processor.

03

Over-specification has a cost

Finer pitch increases emitter count, processing, cost and sometimes fragility. If the audience cannot resolve the difference, put the budget into area, calibration, structure, content or redundancy.
